Who uses Kamp

Parents use Kamp. Kids don’t. Children never log in, create accounts, or interact with Kamp directly. When we say “you” in this policy, we mean the parent or legal guardian who created an account.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and password. Passwords are securely hashed — we never store them in plain text.

Child profiles. You can add profiles for your children so the Planner works. We collect what you choose to provide: first name (or nickname), birthdate or age, grade level, school affiliation, activity history, and preferences. We use this to recommend age-appropriate programs, filter by school community, and build useful plans. We never require a child’s last name or photo. You control what goes into a child profile, and you can delete it at any time.

Planning data. The activities you save, the plans you build, and the weeks you assign. This includes camps, classes, sports programs, and other family activities. This is the core of the product.

User-generated content. Parents and providers can submit content to Kamp, including reviews, program descriptions, photos, and other information. If you submit content, we collect whatever you provide along with your account identity. Reviews are public and attributed (first name, last initial). Provider-submitted content (program details, photos, descriptions) is displayed on the relevant listing pages.

Registration alerts. If you opt into alerts for a program, we store that preference so we can email you when registration opens.

Usage data. We use PostHog for product analytics — page views, clicks, device type, browser. We also use retargeting pixels and marketing tools (such as Meta Pixel and Google Ads) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to show you relevant ads on other platforms. You can opt out of marketing cookies at any time through your browser settings or our cookie preferences. We do not sell your personal data.

Program data. We collect publicly available information about camps, classes, and other family activities (program names, descriptions, dates, prices, age ranges) from provider websites, search engines, and mapping services. This is information about programs, not about you or your children.

What we don’t collect

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account information, health records, precise geolocation, photos of children, or any biometric data. We do not buy data about you from third parties.

Children’s privacy (COPPA)

Kamp is designed for parents, not children. Kids are subjects of your planning — they are never users of the platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All child data in Kamp is provided by a parent or guardian, and only the minimum needed to make the Planner useful.

As a parent, by creating a child profile you are consenting on behalf of your child to the collection of the information you provide. You can review, edit, or delete any child profile at any time from your account settings. When you delete a child profile, all associated data (plan entries, preferences) is marked for deletion and removed from all active views within 30 days.

Marketing and retargeting cookies are never used on pages that display or collect child profile data. Third-party tracking pixels do not have access to any information from child profiles.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information directly from a child, contact us at hello@mybasekamp.com and we will delete it promptly.

How we use your information

We use your data to run the product:

• Show you relevant programs for your kids’ ages and interests
• Build and save your plans
• Send registration alerts you opted into
• Display reviews and provider-submitted content to other users
• Improve the product based on usage patterns
• Measure and improve our marketing through retargeting and analytics tools

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your child profile data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

When we share your information

With camp providers: Only when you take an explicit action — clicking through to a provider’s registration page. We do not share your child’s profile data with providers.

Shared plans: If you use the share link feature, the plan you share is visible to anyone with the link. Shared plans show first names only and do not include your email or contact information.

Reviews: Reviews are public by design. Your first name and last initial are visible to all Kamp users.

Service providers: We use a small number of tools to run Kamp: Supabase (database and auth), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error tracking). We also use advertising platforms (Meta, Google) for marketing measurement and retargeting. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments. We do not share child profile data with advertising platforms.

Legal requirements: We will share information if required by law, subpoena, or court order. We will notify you if legally permitted to do so.

Data retention

Your account data exists as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and child profiles are marked for deletion and removed from all active views within 30 days. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data that cannot be tied back to you.

Program data sourced from providers is retained as long as the program is relevant. If a provider requests removal of their descriptive content, we will remove it promptly, though we may continue to list the factual existence of the program (name, location) as public information.

Your rights

You can do the following at any time from your account settings or by emailing hello@mybasekamp.com:

• Access the data we hold about you and your children
• Correct any inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Delete any individual child profile
• Opt out of registration alerts
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

We respond to all requests within 30 days.

Cookies and tracking

Essential cookies. Required for authentication and core functionality (keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences). These cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies. We use PostHog to understand how people use Kamp — which pages are visited, where users drop off, and how features perform. This helps us improve the product.

Marketing cookies. We use retargeting pixels and conversion tracking tools (such as Meta Pixel, Google Ads) to measure our advertising and show relevant ads to Kamp users on other platforms. These cookies may track your browsing activity across sites. You can opt out of marketing cookies through your browser settings or our cookie preferences at any time.

We do not use marketing cookies or retargeting on any pages or features related to child profiles or child data.

Security

We use row-level security in our database so that your data is only accessible to your account. Passwords are securely hashed using industry-standard algorithms. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll email you at the address on your account and update the date at the top of this page. We won’t reduce your rights under this policy without your consent.
